রাজ্যে ক্রিকেটে দুঃসংবাদ। অকালে ঝরে গেলেন এক প্রতিভা। রাজ্যের অন্যতম সেরা অলরাউন্ডার রাজেশ বনিক আর নেই। শুক্রবার এক যান দুর্ঘটনায় প্রাণ হারায় দেশের হয়ে খেলা ওই অলরাউন্ডারটি। খবরে জানা গেছে, শুক্রবার সকালে বনকুমারি বাড়ি থেকে বের হওয়ার সময় যান দুর্ঘটনার শিকার হয় রাজেশ। ত্রিপুরা জুনিয়র দলের নির্বাচককে সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় আগরতলার মেডিকেল কলেজে। ভর্তি করানো হয় সেখানে। দুপুর গড়িয়ে বিকেল হতে অবস্থার অবনতি দেখা দেয়। শুরু হয় রক্ত বমি। শেষে রাতে শেষ নিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন ভারতীয় অনূর্ধ্ব ১৫ দলের হয়ে দেশের হয়ে খেলা রাজেশ। শনিবার দুপুরের পর শেষকৃত্য সম্পন্ন হয় ওই প্রতিভাবান ক্রিকেটারটির। রাজেশ মৃত্যুতে ছায়া নেমে আসে রাজ্যের ক্রিকেট মহলে। রাজ্য ক্রিকেট সংস্থার পক্ষ থেকে রাজেশের শোকসন্তপ্ত পরিবার-পরিজনদের প্রতি গভীর সমবেদনা জানিয়েছেন। প্রয়াত ধ্রুব এবং ছায়া বণিকের দুই ছেলে এক মেয়ের বড় রাজেশ। ওর ছোট বোন রিপা বণিক এক সাক্ষাৎকার জানান, বেশ কিছুদিন ধরে মাথায় সমস্যা দেখা দিয়েছিল রাজেশের। শুক্রবার স্কুটি নিয়ে বাড়ি থেকে বের হওয়ার পরে সেই সমস্যা পুনরায় দেখা যায়। স্কুটি নিয়ে মাটিতে লুটিয়ে পড়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে খবর আছে বাড়িতে। ছুটে যায় ওর মা। গিয়ে দেখতে পায় মাথায় আঘাত লেগেছে। সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় জিবি হাসপাতালে। চিকিৎসকরা আপ্রাণ চেষ্টা করলেও দাদাকে সুস্থ করে তুলতে পারেননি।দেশের হয়ে খেলার পাশাপাশি রাজ্যের হয়ে জুনিয়র ও সিনিয়র ক্রিকেটে খেলেছেন রাজেশ। রণজি ট্রফি ক্রিকেটে নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছিলেন ত্রিপুরাকে।
