উৎসাহ এবং উদ্দীপনের মধ্য দিয়ে অনুষ্ঠিত হলো ষষ্ঠ রাজ্য স্পোর্টস ক্যারাটে প্রতিযোগিতা। রবিবার ধলেশ্বরে প্রান্তিক ক্লাবে অনুষ্ঠিত হয় রাজ্য আসর। সকাল সাড়ে ছয়টা থেকে আসর শুরু হলেও উদ্বোধন হয় দুপুর সাড়ে বারোটায়। উপস্থিত ছিলেন পূরপরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান সুখময় সাহা, ২৩ নং ওয়ার্ডের কর্পোরেটর মনি মুক্তা ভট্টাচার্য, ত্রিপুরা ক্রীড়া সাংবাদিক ক্লাবের সভাপতি সরযু চক্রবর্তী, রাজ্য সংস্থার সভাপতি দিব্যেন্দু দত্ত, সহ-সভাপতি অধীর দেবনাথ এবং সচিব কৃষ্ণ সূত্রধর। রাজ্যের আটটি জেলা থেকে প্রায় আড়াইশো জন খেলোয়াড় আসরে অংশ নেয়। মোট ৫৭ ইভেন্টে হয় প্রতিযোগিতা। আসরে একচ্ছত্র অধিপত্য দেখিয়ে সেরা হয়েছে পশ্চিম জেলা। দ্বিতীয় এবং তৃতীয় স্থান দখল করে যথাক্রমে ধলাই জেলা এবং সিপাহীজলা জেলা। আসর সুস্ঠ ভাবে সম্পর্ণ হওয়ায় সকল খেলোয়ার এবং অভিভাবকদের অভিনন্দন জানিয়েছেন রাজ্য সংস্থার সচিব। তিনি বলেন, আসর থেকে জাতীয় আসরের জন্য ত্রিপুরা দল বাছাই করা হবে বিভিন্ন বিভাগে। প্রাথমিক ভাবে বাছাই করা হয়ে গেছে। আগামী দিনে বাছাই করা খেলোয়াড়দের নিয়ে হবে বিশেষ প্রশিক্ষণ শিবির। লক্ষ্য থাকবে জাতীয় আসর থেকে পদক জয় করে ফেরা। সেই লক্ষ্যকে সামনে রেখে আবাসিক শিবির করার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে।
