ইরান ফুটবল ফেডারেশনের সভাপতি মেহেদি তাজ, বলেছেন, ” মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র আমাদের দেশে আক্রমণ করেছে। সেখানে ফুটবল খেলতে যাওয়া অসম্ভব।”
ফিফা মহাসচিব ম্যাথিয়াস গ্রাফস্ট্রম বলেছেন, ‘ইরান ফুটবল বিশ্বকাপ বয়কট করার কথা আমরা জানতে পেরেছি। তবে চেষ্টা চলছে ড্যামেজ কন্ট্রোল করার। বিশ্বের বর্তমান পরিস্থিতির উপর নজর রাখছে ফিফা।
