ইনিংস পরাজয় এড়ানো সম্ভব হলো না ত্রিপুরার। প্রথম ম্যাচেই সার্ভিসেসের কাছে ইনিংস সহ কুড়ি রানে হেরে রঞ্জি ট্রফিতে খারাপ সূচনা হলো ত্রিপুরার। ম্যাচের দ্বিতীয় দিন থেকেই ত্রিপুরা দলের হাল হকিকত অনেকটা ব্যাকফুটে ছিল। সার্ভিসেসের গড়া ৩৫৯ রানের প্রথম ইনিংস ত্রিপুরা দল পালা করে দুইবারে ২ ইনিংস খেলেও তা অতিক্রম করতে পারিনি। প্রথম ইনিংসে ১৭৬ রান সংগ্রহ করে ফলোঅনে ব্যাট করতে নেমে ত্রিপুরা দল আশা করছিল অন্ততপক্ষে প্রথম ইনিংসের ভুলগুলো শুধরে নিজেরা ঘুরে দাঁড়াতে পারবে। কিন্তু দ্বিতীয় ইনিংসে যেন আরও ব্যাটিং ব্যর্থতার ছবি ফুটে ওঠে। অন্তিম উইকেটে ব্যাট করতে নেমে অভিজিৎ সরকারের ৩৫ রান এবং ঋতুরাজ ঘোষ রায়ের ৩১ রান এর সুবাদে ত্রিপুরা দল দ্বিতীয় ইনিংসে ১৬৩ রান সংগ্রহ করতে সক্ষম হয়। দ্বিতীয় ইনিংসে সার্ভিসেস এর এ পি শর্মার বিধ্বংসী বোলিং ত্রিপুরা দলকে স্বল্প রানে থামিয়ে দেয়। উল্লেখ্য, রঞ্জি ট্রফি এলিট গ্রুপ সি-তে অন্য খেলায় হরিয়ানা ৯৬ রানের ব্যবধানে রেলওয়েজকে এবং বেঙ্গল আট উইকেট এর ব্যবধানে উত্তরাখণ্ডকে পরাজিত করেছে। আসাম এবং গুজরাটের ম্যাচটি ড্র তে নিষ্পত্তি হলেও প্রথম ইনিংসে লিড নেওয়ার সুবাদে গুজরাট ৩ পয়েন্ট পেয়েছে। এদিকে ত্রিপুরাকে ইনিংস সহ হারানোর সুবাদে বোনাস সহ ৭ পয়েন্ট পেয়ে সার্ভিসেস প্রথম ম্যাচের শেষে পয়েন্ট তালিকার শীর্ষে অবস্থান করছে।
